Emilia Song: I’ve been an adult entertainer for almost six years. I come from a theater background (I have a BFA in it), so it was a natural fit. I started by solo camming, and at the time, I didn’t think I’d branch into the porn side of the business, but then I started working with other people about two years ago, and I remembered how much I loved collaborating. Emilia Song: I was a devout Doctor Who fan when I started camming, so my name is derived from a combination of my favorite companions: Amelia Pond and River Song. I didn’t want to be too obvious, so I changed “Amelia” to “Emilia.”

Emilia Song: I do! I try to contribute to trans and sex workers’ rights organizations a few times per year. I’ve always been a huge supporter of LGBTQ+ rights, and right now, trans folks need the most support. I look for smaller, local organizations like TWOCC (Trans Women of Color Collective) that focus directly on people in the community and sex worker-organized groups like the Desiree Alliance.

Emilia Song: I publicly embrace my awkwardness. A lot of us are awkward – which is fine, you gotta be a little strange to do what we do, and that’s not a bad thing – but our fans don’t really see it. But with me they do. A cam show isn’t complete if I haven’t tripped over or spilled something, and my humor is more groan-worthy than a pun-loving uncle’s. I don’t know, maybe my goofiness ruins the fantasy, or maybe it makes me more relatable. Either way, my fans and followers seem to like it, and that’s what counts to me!
My Favorite Pornstar: Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Emilia Song: Physically, either Las Vegas or LA. In terms of my career, I’d like to get behind the camera more. I love script writing and directing, and porn is a great medium for it! The increased availability of video production technology has opened a lot of room for exploration, especially for women producers and directors. You’re seeing it all over the industry from dramatic sci fi pornos to radically amateur erotic Snapchat stories. Our industry’s indie scene is thriving right now, and I’m excited to see what happens over the next few years! I’m also working on a sex ed video series, so hopefully that will be my primary focus by then.
My Favorite Pornstar: What projects do you have set up for the next 6 months?
Emilia Song: My main project is called AP Sex Ed. It’s an explicit, YouTube-style video series on sex techniques, sexual health, relationships, and related topics, featuring porn stars and cammodels. It’ll be available for free on tube sites like PornHub. I have the first few episodes recorded, and I’m in the midst of editing them, so the goal is to release the first batch this summer. I’ll also be doing more cosplay content for my clip sites and fan pages. I’m doing a lot of Marvel characters this year, so expect more sexy superheroes!

Emilia Song: I don’t have a specific story. I’m a clumsy person, so there have been a few unintentional pratfalls.
My Favorite Pornstar: There is often a stigma around the adult industry, has this affected you and if it did how did you handle it?
Emilia Song: I’m really lucky that I haven’t had to deal with the stigma much in my personal life. My friends all accept what I do, and while my parents were hesitant to accept it at first, eventually they came around. They even go out of their way to offer me advice now! It’s very sweet. The main issue I’ve had to deal with regarding the stigma is reducing my political volunteer work. I used to be very active in a state-level organization that I was extremely passionate about, but I left few years ago when I decided to pursue adult entertainment as a career. There were high school students and some fairly religious people involved, and I didn’t want to make them uncomfortable or cause a scandal.
My Favorite Pornstar: What is the weirdest thing that you’ve been asked to do during a shoot?
Emilia Song: That’s a good question! Maybe my standards of what’s considered “weird” are pretty high, but I haven’t really been asked to do something bizarre during a shoot.

Emilia Song: I like being close to my partner. It’s harder to get good shots when all you see is a person’s hunched back. Shooting is fun and feels good, but it’s not as intense.
My Favorite Pornstar: Where is the most exotic location that you’ve filmed a shoot?
Emilia Song: I’ve filmed in all of the usual spots – LA, Las Vegas, south Florida – so I don’t know, maybe Denver?

Emilia Song: I’ve been recognized a few times, but no one’s ever approached me. They usually message me later and say they think they saw me. I always deny it whether or not they’re right.

Emilia Song: Being silenced. The war on sex work is ramping up, and we’re being kicked off of sites all the time. Far too often the people who claim to support marginalized groups ignore us or call us brainwashed. The majority of people in power don’t respect us even though It’s incredibly frustrating.
My Favorite Pornstar: If you weren’t shooting adult videos what would you be doing?
Emilia Song: I’d probably be involved in state or local politics as an organizer and/or elected official.
My Favorite Pornstar: What advice would you give to someone wanting to get into the industry?
Emilia Song: Do your research. Start by camming or making clips and learn how to model. These days, most porn performers make the bulk of their income from self-produced content. Go to conventions to network. Going to AVN last year was the best decision I made. You can sign with an agent, but it’s not always necessary. It all depends on how you want to run your business. Also, learn how to market yourself online. I wish I had studied marketing when I first started. There’s a lot of sexy people making good content out there, but you need to find people to buy it.
My Favorite Pornstar: How do you keep in shape? Are there any specific exercises or routines that you complete?
Emilia Song: I love to run. I have asthma, so for years I couldn’t run for more than two minutes without having an asthma attack. Then I discovered an inhaler trick, and now I simply love it!

Emilia Song: I love to sing, so I do it constantly. I also like to draw portraits and hike.
