Tell us a bit about yourself.

Richard Mann: Well I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Describe yourself growing up.

Richard Mann: As a kid I was to smart for my own good and it got me in a lot of trouble with my family, at school and with law enforcement. Fighting in school was a constant as a lot of guys thought they could bully me cause I was not like them. got suspended a few times and expelled once for going overboard when fighting. I was a smart kid. I was like a grown man in a kid body.

My grand old aunt called me a man-child and a old soul. A lot of ppl in my family did not like that fact. I did ok in school, only cause I thought I knew it all and did not want to do the work. I never did the class work but would ace the tests. I deathly scared of women and never had a girlfriend till I was of age. Had a ton of sex but no real girlfriend. Grew up as a only child in a family that had a lot of money but we lived very middle class.

How did you start in the industry?

Richard Mann: West Coast Productions gave me my first break. A guy I knew from the Swinging lifestyle said he knew someone who knew someone and asked if it was ok to submit my pics etc. I said ok and a couple days later I got a call from James Alexander asking me if I wanted to shoot. I said yes, he brought my flight and I went and shot

How did you create the name?

Richard Mann: Well it was actually given to me. I’m into a lot of spiritual stuff and for a while I went by Osiris and used that as my stage name. in fact to this day ppl call me Ausar which is the actual name for Osiris. so one day a director came to me and ragged on my name and asked if Id be willing to change it.

I told I did not care as long as the checks cashed. Him and the chick in the back office that handled bookings who later became talent name Amber Peach came up with the name Richard Mann. So I went with that..i thought it was the perfect name.

What do you enjoy most about being in the adult industry?

Richard Mann: I love the freedom it gives me. being that I run my own sites etc it means I don’t have to wait around for any company to call me for a shoot. What I make from the sites is substantial enough so I don’t have to. That means I work for myself. I get to make my own hours. I wake up when I want. If I wanna do a vacay I can when I want and for as long as I want.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Richard Mann: Still doing porn like I am now. I don’t plan on ever stopping. I might not shoot as much cause I will be more busy with the production side getting other ppl out there and into the game and running their sites etc.

What advice would you give to someone who wanted to get into the adult industry?

Richard Man: Do it your ownself. Have your own websites, shoot your own content for it. Ownership is the key. do paids as well. Always do paids

What hobbies and interests do you have outside of the industry?

Richard Man: Too many to name but I very much into networking and pentesting..love reading about business deals(investment banking, LBOs, takeovers etc). Into a lot of spiritual stuff. huge history buff. know enough about politics, black history, world history..over the past 30 years I have consumed a lot of knowledge.

What was it like to be inducted into the UrbanX Hall of Fame?

Richard Man: It is what I have been striving for my whole time in porn. to be picked to be in is a huge honor to be bestowed on anyone.

Why do you create mostly your own content?

Richard Man: Cause it’s about ownership and being your own Boss, controlling your own destiny so you don’t have to depend on the companies to make money. I’m for doing the paids for sure. Its money right then and there and it gets you seen more. but its about ownership. I still make money off content I did over a decade ago.

Do you watch porn, if so what type?

Richard Man: I watch porn daily. I only watch hardcore porn. Only watch the kind I make and wanna make.
